The movie was filmed for 3D, which I did not get to see it in, so some of it is CGI. The worst CGI is probably right in the beginning of the film, so don't let that sway you into shutting it off. The movie has decent gore that is not CGI, and they do use a prop shark here and there.
Overall, I liked it. I was entertained and would give it 3.5/5 stars. A point off for some slightly bad CGI, but if you've seen the recent remake of Piranha then this is a masterpiece when it comes to CGI.

"Bait" is a really unjustly neglected gem of a horror movie. The sharks look real and are cunningly menacing and truly frightening. The 3D effects are startlingly good, with plenty of pop-outs and realistic depth throughout. The movie is an extremely lean and taut suspense thriller. This is a real sleeper!I have to admit, going into this movie I was very doubtful it would be good. To me, the only good shark movie( until I watched this) was Jaws(1st one). Although, in my opinion, it is not as good as Jaws, it was good! I was surprised to see that it had a decent storyline. I love action films, so this one did not dissapoint. I thought the use of 3d in this film was done very well! Some movies only have the 3d effect when they feel the movie calls for it, but this film has it from start to finish. I own an LG 55 inch passive 3d tv and I can tell you from watching it on my set, the 3d is wonderful! Especially the pop out scene in the begining, of the shark coming out of the screen!
