Trust (1990)

The film has never looked better, it sounds great too. I wish there was more in terms of extra features, but that is only because what is there is so good. Do Simple Men next, please!

Trust is an EXCELLENT film. This is the one this is the first "independent" film that got me HOOKED on indie films. I don't like ALL of Hal's stuff, but this one this one is one of my favorite movies of all time! I'm THRILLED to get it on Blu-ray and I just know all of his fans are thrilled as well!!!!

Hal Hartley fans have been waiting for years for this to be officially released! For many years it has only been available in bootleg versions, unless you had an old VHS copy banging around from the good ol' days. The film looks fantastic on Blu-Ray, and the short documentary reflecting on the experience of making the film is very interesting. If for nothing else, watch the extra to be reminded of how amazing Adrienne Shelley was and imagine the creativity that she still had to give before her murder in 2006.

This film should be seen by anyone who likes indie films with clever dialogue, understated performances and a cadence that only Hal Hartley can create. If you enjoy it the first time, you will go back to it again and again, year after year.

Trust was a revelation when it came out. It lifts your spirits with its clean and sober, funny and sweet style. The movie allows the viewer to cast their own feelings into the scene because the acting is delivered with that neutral affect that became a signature of Hartley. It's a unique gift to Indie film. So glad it's out on Blue Ray. My Adrienne Shelly crush began here. She was so totally funny and endearing on-screen like no one I'd ever seen. Oh, and ridiculously sexy.
